An animated logo should not arrive with a solid rectangle around it. Adobe Express’s September release notes, updated October 5, add importing videos with transparent backgrounds so overlays can sit directly on a design.
There is a format condition behind that simple description. In guidance updated October 12, Adobe says Express currently reads transparency from Apple ProRes 4444 video and recommends Chrome. A familiar file extension is not enough: the encoding and export settings determine whether transparency survives.
Check the asset before rebuilding the effect
Imagine adding an animated event logo over interview footage. Before recreating the animation or reaching for background removal, inspect how the supplied clip was exported. A file without the required transparency data cannot recover it simply by being placed over another layer.
A useful trial is one short overlay on both a light and a dark background. Inspect its edges and timing, then check the exported result in the intended playback destination. Adobe notes that these files can be large and take longer to upload or process. Keep that practical cost in the handoff: the person assembling a quick social clip still needs an asset their browser and connection can handle.
