A link in a busy channel often sends the discussion somewhere else. Slack’s October 15 announcement introduces Work Object Embeds: interactive content from supported apps that people can open and work with inside the conversation.
The launch includes experiences for Box, Amplitude, Confluence through Atlassian Rovo, and other partners. Slack says embeds use existing authentication and permissions, with administrator controls over access. The experience extends across desktop, web, and mobile. The announcement explains what each launch integration supports; it does not promise that every pasted link becomes editable.
Keep the evidence beside the discussion
Imagine a product team questioning a drop in activation. Opening the relevant dashboard alongside its thread could let colleagues inspect the same chart while discussing which segment changed. A live view also avoids debating an old screenshot after the underlying report has moved on.
The first check is practical: can the people in that channel actually access the source, and does the integration support the action they need? A preview, an editable document, and a dashboard are different experiences. Start with one supported app and a real review task. Fewer tabs matter only if the right version and the right people stay connected.
