Some application work waits in a queue rather than arriving as a web request. Vercel Daemons, announced in public beta on October 15, is designed for processes that stay running and pull that work when it becomes available.

Vercel lists queue consumers, workflow workers, and self-hosted CI runners as examples. Developers package the process in a container and configure its instances by region; Vercel maintains that count and restarts instances that exit or crash. The workers deploy within the same project as the application. The announcement explains the setup.

Useful for the work behind the page

Take an application generating exports after a user clicks a button. A worker could pick up the queued job while the website remains responsive. That is a different operational shape from trying to make the user wait for the whole export in one request.

Keeping the worker beside the app could simplify project organization. It does not settle job correctness: teams still need to decide what happens after a retry, whether duplicate work is safe, and how they will notice a stalled queue. Those are the questions to bring to a beta evaluation, alongside resource use and the documented limits.
